Good information to get from residents is their opinion on the local school system. You can talk to parents on the forums to find out the pros and the cons of the various schools in the district. This will help you make a more informed decision about which school to send your children to.

Other handy insider info would include a rundown of each neighborhood, such as where there are good bistros, dog parks, and business services. You can also find out which areas are unsafe or have long commute times.

One thing to keep in mind as you scour through online posts is that not everyone's opinion should be taken seriously. You'll get a much better sense of whether the area is a good fit for you than if you base your move solely on a pleasant vacation you had there five years ago.
